Every
farmer is well-acquainted with the small in-line finger wheel rakes
of the past.
With the exception of our customers located throughout the North American
continent, many farmers are unaware of the fact that Tonutti continues
to manufacturer and develop finger wheel rakes and that today they offer
the most innovative line of finger wheel rakes in the world with machines
up to 12 meters working width and 20 finger wheels.
Tonutti’s
knowledge that its finger wheel rakes are by far the best, fastest and
least expensive answer for raking all kinds of forage, has led it to
make the following choice. In those situations where the terrain for
finger wheel rakes is too steep, narrow or has a shape that is “difficult
to work” for example in mountain areas-we offer an alternative
solution with our series of “One Rotor Rotary Rakes” that
provide a working width up to 4.5 meters.
For most other terrain throughout the world, the new generation of finger
wheel rakes with working width of almost 12 meters is the best choice
for many reasons.

of Tonutti finger wheel rakes versus rotary rakes.

Rotary

| Working
speed: |
Very high, 20 - 30 km/h |
Around 10 km/h |
| Forage
quality of the windrow: |
Even delicate forage like alfalfa will be pushed gently into a loose
and fluffy windrow (no rope-like swath), without destroying any
leaves to retain their high nutritional value. Long and flexible
tines and independent spring supported wheels adapt perfectly to
the ground and guarantee a soft treatment of even fragile forage
keeping the windrow very clean. |
Due
to high rotation speed and less flexible tines, leaves of delicate
forage are damaged easily and stones and other dirt are thrown into
the windrow. On uneven parts of the ground especially large rotary
rakes risk digging into the terrain and tearing away all growth
in that area. |
| Total
costs: |
Very
low, because of low initial price, low
maintenance costs, low tractor costs and long life time. |
Very
high because of higher initial costs, high
maintenance and tractor costs and a short life time. |
| Initial
price: |
The Tonutti Finger Wheel Rakes cost from half to a quarter the price
of a Rotary Rake. |
Rotary
Rakes are much more expensive because they are technically more
complicated. |
| Maintenance: |
Very low because the finger wheels are powered by touching the ground
without any transmissions or cams. |
Rotary
Rakes are expensive to maintain because of their cams and transmission
shafts. |
| Operating
life-time: |
A life time because machines consist of very simple parts which
do not wear out quickly and can be easily replaced at a low price. |
Relatively
low life time because of complicated
technical parts like cams and transmission shafts which wear out
quickly. |
| Tractor
costs: |
Tonutti
Rakes only need tractors of maximum
40 – 60 hp. |
Rotary
Rakes need very powerful tractors of up to 120 hp. |
The
Millennium is the largest in size series of Rakes produced by Tonutti
with working width up to 11.70 meters (39') and up to 20 finger wheels.
Its
heavy, stable and flexible structure works on inclines, hills and also
very rough and uneven terrain. The setting of the windrow width is carried
out by simply adjusting the last two finger wheels using the regulating
screw crank.
These
rake wheels are independently adjustable by means of an (optional) electronic
device directly from the tractor seat. The independently spring loaded
finger wheels also follow perfectly the contour of difficult terrains.
Especially
delicate forage like alfalfa is pushed gently into a loose and fluffy
windrow without destroying any leaves so that its high nutritional value
is maintained.
The
Millennium is the ideal machine for medium-sized to even very large
farms and is suitable for all kinds of forage, including straw, from
simple to difficult terrain and from flat land to hilly and inclined
terrain.
